With the highest plunge in Paraty The Melancia is spectacular!
The Melancia Falls hike starts after a 40 minute journey by road from Paraty to the trailhead. The Falls are reached via a trail through lush Rainforest with lots of birdlife on the way. This is a remote area, only accessible by walking trail. On arrival at the first section of the Falls you will have a chance to appreciate the sheer size of this waterfall. After walking another 15 minutes you reach the second falls where you can swim in the crystal clear waters, snack, hang out and rest before the hike back along the same trail.
As a 4 hour round trip on forest trails the Melancia Falls hike is considered to be a medium to challenging hike. If you are a hiker this is the day out for you!

What to take to Melancia Waterfall: Water - minimum 1.5L, cash, shoes for walking, swimsuit, rain gear, sunscreen, snacks (no restaurants on route), repellent.
Route: Hiking trail through the forest on uneven terrain, with no road access. Not accessible to wheelchair users and not suitable for people with back and knee problems.
Difficulty Level: Medium/ Challenging (4 hours round trip walking time).
Group size: Minimum of 2 people; Maximum 12 people
Minimum age: For all ages. Children must be accompanied by a guardian (50% discount for children under 14).
Postponement and Cancellation Policy: In case of bad weather you can switch to another tour, postpone or cancel.
