📃 Description and information of the Kayak Crossing in Paraty
Come for the Kayak Crossing 2 days!
Do you want to know the bay of Paraty very well in super protected water?
Coves, islands, fort and beaches with clear water. Come and connect with nature!
Right now, don’t be alarmed. It is a 2 day tour and not 2 full days paddling.
We row between 40 minutes to 1 hour, between each stop.
Leaving Jabaquara Beach, we will follow the right or starboard side of the bay of Paraty.
We passed by Ilha da Bexiga and stopped at Forte da Tapera, a beautiful place to swim and after a short 5 minute walk, we reached the top where was a Portuguese fort that defended the bay of Paraty and the port, against attacks by privateers and pirates.
Nowadays, a beautiful viewpoint facing the Serra da Bocaina and Paraty Historic Center. Still surrounded by some cannons, which complete the cinema scene.
Soon after, we headed towards Jurumirim beach, very well known in Paraty. Be it beautiful rustic beauty, for turtles swimming around or for having a home of the famous navigator Amyr Klink. Perfect place for snorkling.
After Jurumirim, we proceeded towards Engenho beach, 15 minutes of paddling, another fantastic place.
The name comes from the fact that on the site there was a large mill that processed sugar cane for the shape of the brandy, very famous, it was the place that started the Coqueiro cachaçaria.
This beach still has the water wheel, very large among stone columns and the forest that grew around it.
It is very worthwhile to stop there, the photos look fantastic.
This beach is where we usually open our towels and sarongs and serve a picnic with lots of fruits, nuts and sandwiches. A good stop to eat in the middle of nature and with a good rest, replenish all your energies.
We continue towards Vermelha beach, always coasting, observing the caiçaras customs, nature and boats around.
The red beach, like dozens of other beaches in Paraty, is beautiful. Clear water cove where also, as in all Costa Verde, the forest goes down the mountain and touches the sea.
Kayaks on the sand, cleaned and stored, it’s time to relax!
A drink to celebrate the day, a hot bath, delicious food looking out to sea and a wide smile on the faces of our friends at Happy Hammock, the place we use to stay overnight.
A good night’s sleep is planned for tonight !!
Without much haste, we had our breakfast, again stepping on the beach sand and just like the previous day, we went on for another day of paddling.
However, we will visit the other side of the bay, to complete the kayak crossing for 2 days.
Our first destination is Ilha do Mantimento. As the name says, it served as a place to store the supplies that were necessary for the boats that arrived at the port of Paraty in our colonial period.
In this place, we can be lucky to see the Golden Lion Mico.
After a wet rest, there is no landing on the island, we continue towards Malvão Island, another beautiful place, we disembarked and rested for a while. Swim, rest too, don’t forget! Soon after, we proceeded to Ilha do Araújo, a large Caiçara stronghold.
Depending on the group, we can go around the island or head towards the main beach, where our friends will be waiting with a delicious lunch of fresh fish and a good chat.
As soon as we have lunch, we head towards the beautiful mangrove area of Corumbé Bay. Already approaching the end of our stroke, but certainly a surprising ending.
This rich mangrove area is an important marine nursery in the bay of Paraty.
It shelters different species of birds, fish and crustaceans, which we often see very close to us, a place of great silent peace, which is only broken by the sound of the Martim Pescador or a Garça Moura, making its low-lying flights.
After this unique experience, we move on to the final stretch. 30 minutes of paddling back to Jabaquara beach, the same place we started the adventure the day before.
We strongly believe that this tour can be the gateway for nature lovers, who seek a greater connection, without noise, without pollution in direct contact with nature!
